Corn on the Cob...No Problem for Me!

We were wondering if Abby could nibble corn from the cob..... as you can see, she could! It only took her about 1 minute to use her front teeth to nibble the kernels from the cob. Very much like humans she carefully nibbled her way across the cob and we would turn the cob slightly and she would nibble another row. She did this ever so carefully and never tired to bite the cob. We only let her have a little treat of corn, not the entire cob, as we didn't want an upset tummy or worse! We had a great weekend watching Marion the Robin tend her little birdies. She started bringing worms to the nest on Thursday afternoon and by Sunday we observed little yellow mouths sticking from the nest awaiting another take-out delivery from Mom. We are not sure where she is getting all the worms but she has worked hard feeding the little birdies all weekend. We should mention she has help, we named her boyfriend Howard. Howard has helped Marion tend the little birdies and has delivered as many worms as Marion. Abby no longer seems to bother the birds as they come and go from the nest. They must have concluded that the four-legged quick moving brown object is not a threat. Abby sits on the edge of the deck looking up at the nest but just watches the birds fly in and out and now that there are two birds tending the nest, it is non stop activity...we could almost use air traffic control! We will have to pay close attention in about another week when the birds are getting big enough to possibly fall from the nest. Abby might think that is a new toy or worse...a snack!! We will do yard patrol before letting Miss Biz out for her run. She certainly would not mean to hurt the little birdies but she would be very interested to show us what she found!! Until next time...
