BARK IN THE PARK 2010

Despite the rainy weather on Sunday the SPCA's annual fundraising event, Bark in the Park, was well attended. Abby participated and she had a really good time with all the other doggies and the kids. Many children asked if they could pat her and of course we said yes because she loves the attention. There were many many dogs in attendance and at the end of the day, $19,000 was collected for the Shelter.
Abby continues to be very interested in Marion the Robin. She stands at the patio door watching the nest. Abby rarely barks but she whines/sooks so when she sees the bird she lets us know by whining. She looks at the door, then back at us, then at the door again and we ask her "is Marion in her nest?". It is like once she knows we know, then her job is done. When we let Abby out now we open the door and hold her for a couple of seconds, this give Marion a chance to fly off to safety!! Then Abby can go out for her play time.
Abby had a nice play at the city dog park last night. She became quick friends with a new puppy, a chocolate lab named Norman. She can sometimes get a bit snippy with the dogs that are larger than her, she prefers to play with dogs her own size or smaller. The larger dogs usually play rough and tend to bump into her and she can often be found just on the outside of a few running dogs, never in the middle of the pack. She does like to be the first in the Welcoming Committee when a new dog arrives to play at the park. Until next time....
