Abby visited Santa at the Fredericton SPCA Fundraiser, Pet Photos with Santa. The fundraiser was a big success, raising close to $3,200 for the shelter. Abby hung around the excitement because Mamma was volunteering at the event. Approximately 140 cats and dogs came out to have their pictures taken with Santa...it was a great day for doggies, kitties and their owners. On Wednesday evening Abby enjoyed the Olympic Torch Lighting ceremonies held in downtown Fredericton with several other hundreds of people. Downtown was turned into a festive, party atmosphere with live bands playing, a big screen TV show, lots of children and people of all ages, balloons, limitless Coke-Cola products and Royal Bank tambourines (Olympic sponsors)...a super duper Block Party of sorts. Fredericton's Olympic Champion, Mary Ann Limpert, ran the torch the last leg to Officers Square where she lite the ceremonial flame. The Olympic torch continues to make its way across the Country to Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics and we were glad that would could take part of the Olympic excitement.
We are attending the 95th Anniversary Celebration of the Fredericton SPCA this afternoon at the Crown Plaza www.frederictonspca.ca/95th_anniversary.aspx The Fredericton SPCA cares for approximately 1500 neglected, abused and homeless animals every year. Lots of special guests will be attending so if you have time this afternoon, drop by and join the 95th anniversary celebrations.
Abby completed Level 2 obedience class two weeks ago, she really enjoyed level 2 as it was mostly off leash training. She is so motivated by a little treat that she just about turns herself inside out trying to please to get the ultimate prize! We eventually would like to put Abby in the Nursing Home Visitation Program but she still has some jumping issues that we have to work on before that can happen. The instructor at obedience said that Abby has an excellent personality for the visitation program so we will work on the "playful greeting" she likes to show to new people!!!
With the holidays fast approaching there is lots to do and not enough time to get it all done! Until next time....
