THE PUMPKIN PATCH

Hello, we are back! We were experiencing Internet connection issues so we have not been able to update the Blog for a while but everything has been resolved and we are updating once again.

Summer was busy! Abby loved swimming in her new plastic doggie pool and she also went swimming in the Northumberland Strait at Caisse Cape near Shediac. She loved swimming with her canine friend Piper, a very energetic Airdale. She volunteered at the annual Fredericton SPCA fundraiser "Begathon" which raised over $10,000 in one weekend. She volunteered for two shifts and greeted people who were entering and exiting the NB Liquor Store and many people stopped to ask if Abby was a dog currently for adoption at the Shelter. I don't think so....she is our little girl! She loved seeing all the customers and the attention she got from all the nice people who made donations. She has already offered to volunteer for the same event next year.

Abby has been busy visiting new car lots with us to help pick out a new vehicle. She actually went into the Toyota dealer last week to see if she could easily get in and out of the vehicle and also to see if she would have a good view out the windows. We have a list of "must have" dog features for any new purchase so the nice man at the Toyota dealer said "go get the dog and bring her in" soooooooo... in came Abby to the Showroom, hopped in the car to check it out! We think it passed her inspection.

Abby went shopping at the Barking Lot for a new winter coat on Saturday. Her little coat from last Winter does not fit her any longer...sniff...sniff. It is quite a bit early for coat shopping but we wanted to see what was in stock in case we need to order one. She tried on several sizes and sure enough we discovered that we will need to order one for her. Luckily, the store was placing an order for coats so we were able to select the color we wanted, a nice bright orange one. This coat thing is all new to us as we never had a dog that needed a coat before Abby. In fact, we would often comment about dogs in silly coats....but not any longer. Unlike our Lab/Shepherd mix and Husky/Shepherd mix, Little Abby has a single coat and really does not like the cold, at all.

Abby went to the pumpkin patch today, mainly so we could get a nice picture. She was very interested in the pumpkins, bales of hay, flowers, corn stalks etc....all new smells for a city dog.

She ended her busy weekend with a long play at the City Dog Park and is now on the sofa watching TV. Until next time......
