HELLO WORLD, IT'S ME ABBY!

The car rarely leaves the driveway these days without Abby inside! She loves the car or should we say she loves where the car can take her. Now that the warmer days are here we drive with the window down slightly so Abby can take her usual place out the window. We snapped this picture while driving and as you can see she is having a great time just hanging out. She loves to see and explore and take part of whatever is going on.
Not only does she know the word "car car" she knows the word "park". When we are on our way to the dog park and we are almost there, we say "do you want to go to the park" and she stands up, looks straight out the front window and her tail starts to wag. As we drive into the park area, she goes from window to window and never takes her eyes off the other dogs running in the park.
We have completed week 4 of obedience class and Abby is doing very well. We have sit, down, stand and come commands mastered and have been working on leave-it, heal, making eye contact for extended periods while walking and lay down for periods of 5 and 10 minutes intervals. It is a lot of information so we only work on one command at a time. It will take a while and lots of practice to perfect but it will all be worth it for both Abby and us in the long run. Abby is doing very well walking on her leash and now that the pulling is less frequent she gets the benefit of a 3.5km walk every morning before we leave for work. Abby has not been in her kennel in over two weeks and she is the perfect little girl at home by herself (knock on wood now that we said that). The kennel is still up and she is free to come and go as she wants but the door is never closed. She sometimes "hides" her bones or toys at the back of the kennel so it does serve a purpose.
We have a Vet appointment next Tuesday night to get Abby her flea and heartworm seasonal treatment started as it is that time of year once again. We are excited to have her weighed to see how much our little darling has grown since the last time. Until next time....
