COUSIN PENNY WAS HERE FOR A VISIT

Penny Alice, Abby's new puppy cousin, came for an overnight visit this past weekend. Penny is a 4 month old Airdale who came to her forever home only a few months after her parents had to say farewell to their long time and faithful companion, Piper Alice.  Penny is full of puppy energy, we don't need to say anymore!  Abby was so good with the puppy and let Penny nip at her ears, bite her tail and endure the non-stop activity all weekend.  We hope Penny and Abby will be best buds for many, many years to come.

Last Tuesday night Miss Abby PASSED the test and was admitted into the Canine Nursing Home Visitation Program! We are now on a team that visits residents at the nursing home one night a month. The program is run by the River Valley Obedience and Field Trial Club so we had to join that Club in order to participate in the visitation program.  (This is the same organization where Abby took her Level I and Level II obedience training). They coordinate the schedules with the various nursing homes, the DVA Unit and the extended care unit at the Oromocto Hospital....as well as, they carry all the necessary insurance that is required.  Our first night is next week however, the first night we go without Abby so we can observe what takes place during the visits with the other dogs and the residents. Abby will go for her first night in July.  The Lady administering the test said that Abby is the perfect dog for visiting as she has lots of personality yet was not distracted one bit with touching of her head, ears, tail, a wheel chair passing her, a man walking with a cane or loud noises.  We knew she would be perfect for this program as she is very tolerant of other dogs and loves people, she is not one bit aggressive, loves social activities and being the center of attention!  The Seniors will love her.  She continues to be our wonderful little girl wrapped in a beige fur coat.  Until next time.
